Synthesis of surface-active cholesterylcontaining copolymers based on poly(maleic anhydride-co-ethyltrioxyethylene methacrylate)

Abstract:

Amphiphilic surfactants poly(cholesterylmaleinat-co-maleic acid-co-ethylltrioxyethylene methacrylate) (MAc-CholMAc-PEMA) with different contents of cholesteryl were synthesized by the reaction of cholesterol with a poly(maleic anhydride-co-ethyltrioxyethylene methacrylate) copolymer and followed by alkaline hydrolysis of poly(cholesterylmaleinat-co-maleic acid-co-ethylltrioxyethylene methacrylate)(CholMAc-MA-PEMA). The structures of obtained copolymers were studied with an IR and a 1H-NMR spectroscopy, a pH-metric titration. Aqueous colloids of procured copolymers are able to solubilize lipophilic substances.
